SmokeTree -- What!!!
RiverCityRapids has an interesting piece on the discrimination lawsuit the Virginia Fair Housing Act has against the Smoketree Subdivsion in Chesterfield. The Chesterfield Observer picked it up a few weeks ago and it has finally made it to NBC12.
I would like to here what the Smoketree Association "side" is of this story. And where are the Neighbors -- they should be vocal - it's their neighborhood and it's their money from Asscociation fees that are paying for lawyers and court costs. Even though most Associations are made up of members from within the neighborhood -- The Residents don't always agree with what the Association are thinking or deciding...
I'm not sure what the deal is with SmokeTree. Both Brandermill and the Woodlake Associations can sometimes be pretty tough and strict on home owners. However , there are several Group Homes that have people with mental challenges that operate in Brandermill and Woodlake. -- you would'nt be able to find them just by driving by and the neighborhood as well as the Associations don't seem to have a problem. -- So whats the Deal SmokeTree??
You should be happy and inviting that a program like this can be in your neighborhood. With prices of homes skyrocketing the past few years it has become harder and harder for providers to be able to afford homes out in the burbs and in nice communities such as Smoketree.
