Everyone's going Green -- Right?

I'm not sure if going Green - is the correct term here.  I'm not buying solar panels for the roof, or putting a wind turbine in the back yard.  

I really just want to save a couple of bucks off the Electric Bill.  

Getting rid of your old light bulbs and replacing them with CFL seems to be a "what to do first" for folks. 

Here is a run down of how many light bulbs need replacing.  I  never realized how many light bulbs are in our house. Over 40 bulbs...

Still making Dirt -- slowly!

Back in September we set up our Compost Bin that we got from The Richmond Clean City Commission. We actually picked up 2 - and will be using #2 in about another month when our first Compost gets full.  

So far so good.  I'm really impressed and somewhat amazed about about much waste we produce.  We are a family of 4 (soon 5).  And on average we produce about 3-4 bags of garbage a week.  and 2 recycle bins full every other week.  Since we started the compost bin - we have been averaging about 3 bags of garbage each week.    

No we are not putting that much trash in our compost - but I think we have been more aware of what goes in our trash.  Since, we are saving our food scraps (no meat or dairy) for the compost, I think we are catching more of what can be recycled.  Cool!!!
